About James

    Welcome to JamesSchellman.com

                          Author James Schellman

Professional Bio:

James Schellman has a passion for communication and leadership, and he has taken that passion and directed it at teaching others to attain significance in their lives.  That is his vision - simply ‘to add value to the lives of others’.  A recognized scholar in the realm of leadership and communication, James’ artful ways of making communication simpler will revolutionize your daily interactions professionally, socially, and romantically.

Personal Bio: Well, that is my short professional bio anyway.  However, it is not much fun to read and doesn’t really tell you a lot about me or my blog.  Plus, you never really get to know a person very well when they just fill their bios and websites up with a lot of hot air that makes them look better than they are.  I have never really been one to brag on myself, so I cannot reasonably do it now.

I wish I could tell you that my only means for providing for myself is that I am an author/speaker, but that would not be entirely the whole truth.  I aspire for it to be my only means of provision, but in the mean time, I am also spending my time working in the Fortune 50 corporate world.  [buy my book.]

I am a jack-of-all-trades really.  I have a degree in Speech Communications from Colorado State University, from which I trained for a career in Journalism - TV and Radio Broadcasting to be specific. I also emphasized my degree in Business Management, Communications, and Rhetoric. I decide to forego a eMBA in Business because I did not think the timing was right; however, I am plan to pursue my masters at a later date.

I was a professional wakeboarder, a radio DJ, and have started or consulted for many successful small businesses.  I am a accomplished web developer, the Brand manager/Marketing manager for my wife’s Real Estate Appraisal business, a developed oral presenter, skilled in marketing, management, promotions, and media communications. And, most recently became a father of a beautiful little girl who now holds the key to my heart - Alexis. (Lexi for short)

My passion for communication and leadership stems from my father who taught me the importance of both from a very young age, since he was a professional/instructor of both.  I have spent over a decade learning all I can on these topics and have found they are two of my personal strengths.  I continue to and always will be a constant student of leadership, intra/interpersonal communication, and knowledge.  Read my post on why I prefer to not be called an expert.

My hobbies include wakeboarding, snowboarding, motocross, a great game of golf, media editing and spending wonderful time with my wife and daughter.

Questions people often wonder:

What Can I Find At Your Blog?: At JamesSchellman.com/blog I pledge for you to find sound advice on the topics of Communication, Leadership, Relationships, and Life.  It is tailored to the Gen-Y culture; however, everyone may find something they enjoy.

Sometimes I have delusions of thinking that I am funny, but, regrettably, I am not, and I promise I won’t attempt to humor you in my posts.  But, if I slip one in, I would appreciate it if you provide me a sympathy laugh.

I believe in the 24hour rule.  It states: in order to commit what you have learned to memory, you need to share what you have learned with someone else within 24hours.  That means, what you will learn here is either something I have just learned or lessons I have committed to memory in the past.  However, I promise you will always find wisdom for everyday living.

Should You Comment?: I love comments, and would love to hear what you have to say….  What r ya, Yella?  WRITE A COMMENT DARN IT!

Where Can You Buy My Book?: Everywhere books are sold.  Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com. borders.com, or a plethora of other outlets including Brick and Mortar Stores.  However, and this is the important part, I would prefer you purchase it from me.  Why? Because it is the only place you can get a signed copy of the book.  I will personally sign every book sold.

The truth is, I want you to buy my book - period.  Why? Because it is good, at least my mother tells me so… (that is a joke - please humor me)

I guarantee that you will enjoy the book immensely, as so many have already. And, if you don’t, then feel free to ship it back to me and I will give you a full refund - that is how much this book is going to improve your life… it comes complete with a money back guarantee.  (If you buy it somewhere else they are not going to give you that guarantee.) Buy the Book

Should I Ask You To Write About Something?: Yes - if there is something you want me to write about then simply send me an email, ask me a question, and provide an email address for me to let you know when the post has been published.

Where Can I learn More About You Personally?: If you want to find out more about me at a personal level I have a MySpace page at Myspace.com/jamesschellman

Where Can I Learn More About You Professionally?:  Check out LinkedIn.com

And that is the end of my Social Networking…
